Curriculum

Eva Portillo is Associate Professor in the department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at Bilbao School of Engineering (University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU). She gained her PhD in Engineering in 2007 and received the Prize for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis awarded by the University of the Basque Country in 2010. Also, she has several awards at national conferences. Her research interests focus on the application of Intelligent Techniques and Real-time solutions to manufacturing and industrial processes, as well as robotics and bioengineering. She has published more than 30 scientific papers in high-quality JCR journals such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Applied Soft Computing, Neurocomputing and Expert Systems with Applications. Her thesis supervision work includes three awarded with the "International Distinction" and two with the "Industrial Distinction". In 2016 was a visitor professor at the Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute KEDRI (Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand). With regards to teaching quality, she has been awarded with the Mention of Excellence in the so-called “Docentiaz” program promoted by UPV/EHU (2019-2023; 2024-2029). From 2017 to 2019 Eva Portillo has been Vice-Dean of the Master and Doctoral School of UPV/EHU. Currently, Eva Portillo is Academic Secretary of the Doctoral School of UPV/EHU.
